Planning approval granted

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

We are delighted to have been granted planning permission for the conversion and extension of a dilapidated water tank near Hay-on-wye.

The proposal utilises the existing concrete structure to form a new family home with the living arrangements organised around the original structure and a central winter garden providing views internally. The existing concrete steps provide a small plunge pool to the lower ground-floor bedroom, whilst a new set of steps mirrors the old to provide access into the dwelling. A new wing projects to the rear of the proposal and contains the master bedroom.

Expansive clerestory glazing, picture windows and two corten slots provide light and the wonderful expansive views of the welsh countryside into the first floor. An internal open courtyard allows light to penetrate deep into the lower ground floor.

A really exciting project and one we can't wait to see progress. A big thank you to all the consultants involved who helped to realise this project for our client. A clear example of how good architecture can realise value from existing structures with little to no value.
